Intelligent robot of Guangdong power company of China Southern Power Grid starts to work in high voltage substation

2023-03-13

China Southern Power Grid Guangdong company recently announced that its intelligent inspection robot has been put into use, which is expected to realize 24-hour monitoring of substation, which will improve the intelligent level of power system. The first robot to be put into use began to "go to work" at the 500 kV Wolong substation in Yunfu of Guangdong power grid on November 4.

Yang Yingyi, leader of artificial intelligence technology group of robot division of Guangdong energy technology company of southern power grid, said that only the inspection points and routes should be set in advance, and the patrol inspection task should be assigned in the main control room by a key, and the robot will automatically carry out the relevant line detection and data reading, replacing the traditional manual inspection.

Patrol inspection is an important guarantee for the operation safety of substation, which is divided into routine inspection and special inspection. The regular inspection is not equal to once a month or once a quarter; while special inspection sets a more frequent cycle according to specific requirements, such as once a day in special power supply period. A substation involves more than 1000 patrol points, usually two staff will take 67 hours to complete, time-consuming and laborious.

"With the rapid development of economy, the scale of power grid is becoming larger and larger, the number of transmission and transformation equipment is increasing, and the contradiction between patrol inspection demand and human resources is becoming more and more prominent. How to improve the level of intelligence and reduce human investment has become a new challenge to ensure the security of power supply. " Yang said.

In recent years, robots have been introduced into the field of power inspection, replacing the manual part of automatic inspection. However, the traditional image recognition method for instrument recognition is affected by complex background, light condition and other factors, so the accuracy of detection and reading is low.

"The newly developed intelligent inspection robot uses AI algorithm to greatly improve the accuracy of equipment image recognition. Because robot inspection is limited by time, weather and other factors, it is possible for substation robots to realize 24-hour full day monitoring. " Yang said,

Yang Yingyi believes that the promotion and application of intelligent inspection robot and the enhancement of its ability can effectively promote the development of the substation patrol inspection. In the future, intelligent robots will be applied to transmission line inspection, etc. to promote the intelligent power inspection, which will also help to improve the power security level in Dawan District, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
