On November 29, the second Sino Italian machine tool industry forum was held in Beijing. This is the second bilateral summit forum organized by relevant institutions of China and Italy two years later, which aims to promote and strengthen dialogue between machine tool enterprises and users of the two countries. The forum was held at the Italian Embassy in China with the theme of "Italy helps China: high end manufacturing". More than 100 people attended the forum, including officials of relevant departments of Italian government, representatives of relevant enterprises of both sides, representatives of China machine tool users, and representatives of China Italy machine tool association and media.
The forum was initiated by the Italian Ministry of economic development, hosted by the Italian International Trade Commission (ice) and the Italian Association of machine tool, robot and automation manufacturers (UCIMU), and co sponsored by the Italian Ministry of foreign affairs and the Embassy in China. In the process of organizing the forum, China Machine Tool Industry Association (CMTBA) worked closely with relevant Italian institutions, conducted many communications and discussions, and organized Chinese machine tool enterprises, user representatives and media representatives. The forum is supported by China Machinery Industry Federation (CMIF).
The Italian government has always attached great importance to the overseas expansion of manufacturing enterprises, and provided support and assistance to the in-depth cooperation in China in relevant fields. In March, when Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Italy, Italy took the lead in signing a memorandum of understanding with China on building a "one belt and one way" cooperation. The forum held a dialogue between Chinese and Italian machine tool enterprises and users to explore complementary cooperation and discuss innovative solutions to meet the needs of high-quality and sustainable development of the Chinese market.

Wang Ruixiang, President of China Machinery Industry Federation, said, "over the years, Italy and China have had many successful cooperation cases in the field of machinery manufacturing. For example, Fiat Italy has a wide range of investment in China and has achieved success. Chinese enterprises invest in some famous Italian machine tool enterprises and maintain a good cooperative relationship. This is based on the strong complementarity between China and Italy in most industries, and the potential for more cooperation. "
Italian machine tool manufacturers have always attached great importance to foreign trade, and about 55% of their products are exported to foreign countries. In 2018, Italy's machine tool industry's export to China reached 430 million US dollars, accounting for 10% of Italy's total machine tool export. China has become Italy's third largest machine tool export market, second only to the United States and Germany. Meanwhile, Italy has become the sixth largest supplier of machine tools in China.
